CrossFit L1

Favorite movement:

Hard to pick one. I like snatches, overhead squats, rope climbs, and rest intervals to name a few.

How long you’ve been doing CF & why:

I have been doing CrossFit for 12 years. I was introduced to it by one of my high school baseball coaches. My introduction to CrossFit is a common one. I did “Fran” using 65# and a chair to assist me with pull-ups. Twelve minutes later I was on the floor wondering what just happened. After a couple of minutes of agony, I just wanted to know what time we were working out the next day. I don’t know of another workout program that cultivates a community of people that will push themselves to the brink every day and keep that “what time tomorrow” attitude. That’s why I do it.

What’s your favorite part about coaching:

My favorite part about coaching is helping athletes remember the process and journey it took for them to get to where they are. Often, athletes, myself included, lose sight of that process when they have one or two bad workouts. It’s pretty cool to be in a position to help put things in perspective and remind athletes just how far they have come.

Life outside of the gym:

It depends on what my wife, Sara, has on the calendar for us. We’re usually hanging out with our two dogs, finding a trail to hike, or figuring out something else to do outside. I try and find my way on a golf course every now and then, and catch some football games in the fall.
