Cleans and bar muscle ups are too tough to choose between.
How long have you been doing CrossFit and why?
I’ve been doing CrossFit for almost 4 years now. I initially began because I missed the competitive side of sports. It provides the push and motivation that competitive sports once did for me. As I grow as an athlete and coach, I value CrossFit for so much more. It’s not just a great workout. Every day I am challenged to move my body in new ways, never becoming stagnant, and I know that I am keeping myself active and healthy. Sure, my competitive edge is still there, but I value my health and ability to move well over everything else, and Crossfit does the perfect job providing that. Lastly, our community here is the best around. It keeps me around just as much, if not more than, the awesome workouts.
What is your favorite part about coaching?
In the gym and during class, there is nothing more rewarding than coaching someone to achieve a goal, a personal best, or a great time on a workout. Outside of the gym, I love hearing about people’s health improvements overall. Lowered lipid levels, increased cardiovascular health, and improved daily life from gaining strength they didn’t know they had. THAT is the best part. Knowing that we are changing people’s lives, long term.
Favorite cheat meal:
Pizza – especially when it fits in my macros.
Life outside of the gym:
Outside of the gym I am a Registered Nurse and a co-owner of a nutrition company called Rx Nutrition Coaching. When I’m not nursing or coaching nutrition or fitness clients, you’ll find me spending time with my husband, Paul (the handsome guy in the next bio you’ll read 😉 ), and our 140-lb lap dog, Griff. Walks to the farmer’s market in downtown Greenville, traveling, partner workouts, hiking, & home projects are usually what you’ll find us doing!
